Let’s have a look at what happened in Episode 3 (titled “Virtù e Fortuna”) of HBO’s Westworld Season 2.

Where TF Are We?

Episode 3 of Westworld Season 2 opens with all new characters in a new park based on safari hunting and I had to check the guide because I totally thought I had flicked onto the wrong program. But, no. Remember back to when Shiva turned up dead on the shores of Westworld and everyone is like, “These things don’t cross borders into other worlds?” Well, this is the backstory to that.

Some woman is fucking some guy and they then go to a new place in search of wildlife to slaughter. Instead, they find the guests have been slaughtered and the woman makes a run for it before she’s dead too. She manages to outrun a tiger in the process as well as cross territory lines and end up in Westworld. The tiger has her cornered though and, when she shoots, they both go over a cliff. The woman manages to survive. Shiva, however, is once again given the blunt end of a storyline.

Charlotte Hale is Still Surviving Against all the Odds

Charlotte (Tessa Thompson) turns up with the group in the present day timeline and while we are all surprised she made it, she is eyeballing Bernard (Jeffrey Wright). And, is it just me, or does Charlotte totally know Bernard is a host and is keeping quiet about it for, reasons? Otherwise, I can’t believe she is that stupid, especially considering the way Bernard has been behaving of late.

We get flashbacks of her and Bernard as they tried to survive those two weeks in the park when the hosts rose up and started killing humans. It is at this point, Abernathy (Louis Herthum) is introduced. He is still as glitchy as fuck and poor Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) is sad to see him this way, blaming herself for becoming sentient and causing this whole mess.

Charlotte is trying to smuggle Abernathy out of the park but things are just not going her way, especially when Bernard and Dolores meet up and he seems to be taking the host side while hiding this from Charlotte.

Maeve Goes on a Really Long Walk

While Dolores is trying to kill everyone even while wrestling with the demons of her past, Maeve (Thandie Newton), Hector (Rodrigo Santoro), and Lee Sizemore (Simon Quarterman) are, well, walking.

They traverse miles and miles. To the point where Lee is pointing out the human just can’t do it anymore. But, then Armistice (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) turns up and they have to get out of there real quick.

In between all the walking, Lee is pointing out that Maeve and Hector aren’t programmed to have a relationship, that he didn’t write them that way. So, even in the midst of being taken hostage by hosts, he still doesn’t really get it.

So, back to that walking. Finally, they make it to … a place? There’s a fire, so they decide to check it out. Lee notices something in the snow and discovers a little too late that they have just stumbled into Samurai World and viewers will have to tune in next week to see if Maeve can control hosts from other parks.

TL;DR: We just got introduced to two new parks, which means the uprising is so much bigger than we first suspected.
