Last week was crazy, workwise, which means I had to let my recap for Episode 5 of Westworld Season 2 slide until now. So, without further ado, let’s take a belated look at what went down in last week’s episode.

Everyone Loves Kung Fu Fighting

You know how HBO has been teasing glimpses of Shogun World since the Season 1 finale without actually showing us any of this new world in Season 2? Well, Episode 5 of Westworld is a blur with all things Shogun World. I’m still not actually sure why Maeve (Thandie Newton) needs to go there since she is looking for her daughter in the wild west. But, hey, Shogun World has just enough of the old school Japanese Kung Fu movie appeal and an amped level of violence there’s no need to question anything just now, is there?

As soon as we enter the arena of Shogun World it becomes apparent that Lee Sizemore (Steven Quarterman) is a little lazy when it comes to creating new plots and characters for each world within Westworld. Enter the woman with the tattoo and the other woman who is desperate to save her daughter. In fact, Lee is so lazy that he just puts entire scripts through Google translate and that is how Maeve can mimic everything Akane (Rinko Kikuchi) says. Even if it is in Japanese, that’s okay because Maeve is now an expert of this language.

So, Akane is the Maeve equivalent of Shogun World and Maeve’s group now needs to help her and her daughter, Sakura (Kiki Sukezane), escape the terrible clutches of male patriarchy.

In the process, many ninjas die and we discover that Maeve can now get hosts to kill each other just by using her mind. Which likely means, Maeve is now God.

The other guys in Shogun World prefer to use the term “witch.”

Either way, it gets Maeve out of a sticky situation so that her group can continue on their journey.

Dolores and Teddy Get Freaky, Then Dolores Bites off His Head Because That’s What Praying Mantis’ Do

So, while Maeve is taking the scenic route to finding her daughter, Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood), is still fucking shit up in the Westworld theme park in Episode 5 of Season 2. With her army of hosts that include Bohemian Fuck You Up Barbie, also known as Angela (Talulah Riley), and My Zombie Clementine (Angela Sarafyan), things are continuing to get bloody.

However, that is all left far behind once viewers realised Dolores and Teddy (James Marsden) are actually going to have sex. For a couple who have been paired together in an HBO series, there sure hasn’t been much jiggy being had between these two up until now.

But, once the deed is over, like every female praying mantis ever, Dolores decides it is time for Teddy to part with his head—well, his mind actually. Yes, Dolores performs a lobotomy on poor Teddy and who only knows how he will turn out next week.

Although, Forbes managed to get a screenshot of the aforementioned tweaking, and this is how Teddy has been altered. Yeah, shit’s about to get real is my guess…

Hello Daddy

Finally, in Episode 5 of Westworld Season 2, we discover that newcomer, Grace (Katja Herbers), is actually the Man in Black’s (Ed Harris) daughter. Right-o, so now I am desperate for Episode 6 of Westworld!

TL;DR: Shogun World is a knock-off of Westworld and we aren’t even sure why Maeve had to detour there. Teddy gets a lobotomy and the MiB finds his daughter.
