Here’s what happened in Episode 9 (titled “Vanishing Point”) of HBO’s Westworld Season 2.

Delos Is Scanning Everyone’s Brains

So, we all knew that Delos was scanning human activity while they were living it up and being revolting within the Westworld theme park. Now we know it was as simple as a card placed into every hat worn by the guests.

Seriously, in all that time, no one noticed the chipped card inside their hat?

The Man in Black Is Worse Than We Thought – The Flashbacks

Episode 9 of Westworld Season 2 saw the story focus on the Man in Black’s (Ed Harris) life outside the theme park.

Also, William seems be concerned about his arm. But, more on that later.

So, we quickly discover that his wife, Juliet (Sela Ward) is an alcoholic and that his daughter, Emily/Grace (Katja Herbers) is trying to get her mum committed to rehab.

It is also discovered that on the night that Juliet killed herself when feigning sleep, the Man in Black (also known as William) reveals just how fucked up he really is. After he leaves Juliet to be, she sneaks a look on his Westworld scanner card and discovers all the shit he does while inside Westworld.

And, that’s why she killed herself.

However, prior to doing this, she sticks William’s card inside Emily’s jewelry box so that she too can find out what a cunt her father is.

The Man in Black Is Worse Than We Thought –The Current Day

In the last episode of Westworld Season 2, Emily rescued her dad from the Ghost Nation.

Now, she is trying to save him from himself.

In the midst of this, it is revealed that William is completely out of whack with reality and he thinks Emily is a host.
So, just as she goes to pull out the card her mum hid in her jewelry box, he shoots her. Dead.

The Man in Black shoots his own daughter because he thought she was a fucking host.

Needless to say, he works out pretty quickly she was the real deal and then he decides it is time to off himself.

But, hang on a minute, he decides to stop and think about free will and shit for a moment before cutting open his own arm.

Say what?

Is William a host?

Or is he just hoping he is on account of just killing his own daughter?

Guess we’ll have to wait until the Season 2 finale of Westworld to find out for sure.

Teddy Gets Sick of Dolores’ Shit

So, remember how Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) amped up Teddy (James Marsden) back in Episode 6? Well, didn’t that come back to bite her on the arse in Episode 9 of Westworld!

This episode sees Dolores and Teddy traveling all over the place. However, when they stop for a moment, Teddy kills himself rather than continue to be the dick Dolores programmed him to be. Surprisingly, Dolores is unbelievably upset about this.

Bernard Gets Sick Of Dr. Ford’s Shit

You know, the trouble with helping hosts to become self-aware is that, well, they become self-aware.

As a result of this, Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) gets sick of Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) ordering him around and cuts open his own arm in order to drop Dr. Ford’s coding into the trash.

Clementine Gets Weaponised

Because Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) is the worst human ever (besides the Man in Black), she has managed to weaponise Clementine (Angela Sarafyan). Using the mesh system, Clem can now cause all the hosts close to her to kill each other.

Which is all thanks to the Jedi power that Maeve (Thandie Newton) has.

Dr. Ford Tells Maeve That She Is His Favourite

Now that Bernard is over Robert, it gives Dr. Ford more time to focus on his new favourite host: Maeve. Although, according to Robert, she has always been his favourite and I guess that makes sense because she seems to be the only truly sentient host.

He also has a chat about how he wanted her to escape the park but he never expected her love for her daughter would override that coding. As a result of this, he appears to give her some new coding and now everyone is wondering if she will manage to finally escape the park by piggybacking out of there via Bernard.

Season 2 of Westworld returns with Episode 10 on Sunday, June 24, at 9 p.m. ET. According to HBO’s scheduling, this episode is titled “The Passenger.” As yet, no synopsis has been revealed for the Season 2 finale episode.
