The Walking Dead Season 4 Recap – Episode 10: Inmates

Season 4, Episode 10 of AMC's The Walking Dead, the one in which the escapees ARE the inmates...

So, this week, in Season 4, Episode 10, entitled Inmates, AMC’s The Walking Dead, lets us know what happened to the rest of the prison gang. And it’s very interesting how they tie in everyone’s story. We find tasty little morsels left behind in each reveal of the next batch of escapees, but we must wait patiently as the full story is unfurled.

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) fans would have been happy with the opening scene, although, to me, it was stolen entirely by Beth (Emily Kinney) and her journal entry voice over.

In saying that, though, I found Beth was a bit out of character this week – either she’s a hard-arsed bitch or she ain’t AMC! We can’t have her not crying over the death of her boyfriend and then going all girly tears over the deaths of some random prison gang escapees.

And, Daryl, well, he was a let down too. Without Rick around to allow him to care about people and being his moral compass, he went all cardboard cut out on us. Hopefully he gets out of his snit next week (or finds Rick and gets set straight again).

Of course, having Carol (Melissa McBride) back on the scene might make him less broody.

And, yowsers, wasn’t that an interesting scene: Carol returning?

Firstly, we find Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) and Mika (Kyla Kennedy) trailing behind Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) – and Judith! Well, there you go, she did make it out alive. But, boy is her crying and fussing a pain for these survivors by constantly drawing walkers and keeping them on the run.

Judith is annoying but safe, having been rescued by Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) in Season 4, Episode 10 of AMC's The Walking Dead

When Tyreese hears screaming, he leaves the girls in charge of the baby and psycho Lizzie nearly suffocates Judith before Carol appears on the scene. When Tyreese returns he is glad to find Carol is okay and Carol leads him down the garden path as to her involvement (or lack of) in the fall of the Prison.

It is at this point we are introduced to the new safe haven called Terminus – seems people are safe here. I just wonder how long it will be before it all goes pear-shaped – or it is merely the new Woodbury?

A new safe haven is found. Will Terminus turn out to be just like Woodbury in Season 4, EPisode 10 of AMC's The Walking Dead?

So who else is left? Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Bob (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.)and Maggie (Lauren Cohen) have banded together. Maggie is bat shit crazy worrying about Glenn (Steven Yeun). She decides to hunt the prison van down, giving Sasha and Bob no option but to follow her.

And find the van she does – except it’s filled to the brim with walkers!

And fuck you AMC – and the writers you rode in on for making me think Maggie kills walker Glenn!

Fuck you very much.

So while I’m all crying over the death of Glenn, AMC goes “Surprise, Glenn’s not dead, he’s just a very naughty boy.” It seems he somehow managed to get off that bus and is still back at the prison. He is precariously balanced on the edge of a blown up walkway with a horde of hungry walkers below him just itching for a bite.

Managing to escape, he finds his old riot gear and Tara (Alanna Masterson) moping about. Besides the fact she was batting for the other team, they join forces and manage to escape the Prison, finding themselves on the very same road as the rest of the survivors.

It is at this point that Glenn and Tara are attacked by walkers. After dispatching them with relative ease, they are confronted by an armoured truck and its inhabitants. Say hello to Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) andRosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos). Are these guys from Terminus? Are they good or bad? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see, although fans of The Walking Dead comics probably have a fair idea…
