‘Vikings’ Season 5B Return: Here’s My Non-Spoiler Review

So, the screeners came in a while back for Season 5B of History Channel’s Vikings and I have totally been sitting on what goes down when Season 5 returns next week.

However, with a week to go before Episode 11 (titled “The Revelation”) of Vikings Season 5 premieres, I think it’s time for my non-spoiler review.

On the Battlefront

The mid-season finale of Vikings Season 5 concluded with Duke Rollo (Clive Standen) turning up to help Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen). This was totally a dick move, to be honest, and fans have been hoping ever since that Rollo will do a switch and bait in Episode 11, joining Lagertha’s (Katheryn Winnick) side instead. You know, because he has always had a boner for her.

Well, I can’t really tell you how that goes down, you’ll just have to wait and see. However, as Metro has previously pointed out, there will be some discussion on whether Rollo is really Bjorn’s (Alexander Ludwig) dad. So, if Rollo has decided to stay Team Ivar, that’s a super dick move.

Speaking of Ivar, while he has won Kattegat, Lagertha’s group are on the move, having fled the town before Ivar shows up to gloat about being victorious at the end of Episode 10. So, this victory might be a little hollow considering Lagertha is still alive.

And, for Lagertha, she will have to make some pretty tough decisions in Season 5B of Vikings now that she has nowhere to live.

In England

Now that Alfred (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) is king, he has some tough choices as well. Not only will these decisions involve Wessex, but the continued Viking invasion. Oh, and his mother just might want a pesky little heir now that he is king as well…

In Iceland

Episode 10 of Vikings Season 5 saw Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) offering to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Or, maybe it was just because he was sick of Eyvind’s (Kris Holden-Ried) whining. Either way, everyone is going to want to weigh in on whether Floki should die.

So, Who Dies?

Yeah, see that title up there? It says “non-spoiler,” so nice try. However, this is a TV series about Vikings, so you can bet your bottom dollar that people die. The question is, who? 😉

Season 5 of Vikings will return to History Channel with Episode 11 (titled “The Revelation”) on Friday, November 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. History Channel lists the following synopsis.

“Rollo is welcomed home to Kattegat after Ivar is crowned the new king. Bjorn, Lagertha, and Ubbe must flee Ivar’s murderous forces and rely on unsteady alliances to survive.”

As per usual, The Snarking Dead will be recapping each episode of Vikings, so make sure you stick around for all my snark on one of my fave TV series!

And, if you are looking for something to do while you wait for the Season 5B premiere of History Channel’s Vikings, why not check out my book series, Vikings Secrets, which delves into the stories surrounding Ragnar Lothbrok. Find out more here.
